About Aglaonema 'Pink Dalmatian'

Pink Dalmatian carries a translucent pale pink leaf densely speckled with small dark green spots, a pattern distinctive enough to earn its dog-breed nickname. The translucent quality of the pink base is more pronounced than on solid-pink cultivars, giving the leaf a slightly glowing look in bright light. Easy-care and tolerant, in keeping with the rest of the genus.

Before You Buy

Species-specific things to check when evaluating a listing

  • Ask for a photo in bright light: the translucent pink base is the defining trait and should show a slight glow, not just flat pale colour
  • Confirm the dark-green speckling is present and distinct, not a plain pink or pink-blush leaf mislabelled as Pink Dalmatian
  • No live market price data is recorded; treat asking prices as seller-set
  • Check for firm, undamaged nodes on multiple canes
Field Notes · Vol. 111 August 2026

Translucence as the Tell

Pink Dalmatian's speckled pattern is the obvious selling point, but the more useful diagnostic is the translucency of the pink base itself. It's described as more pronounced than on solid-pink Aglaonema cultivars, giving the leaf a faint glow when backlit or held up to a bright window. A dull, opaque pink leaf with dark spots might still be a Dalmatian-line plant, but it's worth asking for a photo taken in good light before assuming you're getting the genuine translucent form rather than a flatter-coloured relative.
