Privacy Policy

Aroid Atlas (“we”, “us”) operates aroidatlas.co.uk, a plant reference and market-price directory. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Information we collect

• Account data. If you create an account, we store your username, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). If you sign in with Google, we store the name, email, and profile picture your Google account provides.
• Collection data. Plants you add to your greenhouse collection or wishlist, and any notes or price alerts you set up, are stored against your account.
• Usage data. If you accept analytics cookies (see below), we collect general, aggregate usage data — pages visited, approximate location, device type — via Google Analytics.
• Advertising data. We show ads via Google AdSense. Unless you accept advertising cookies (see below), ads are shown without personalization and without advertising cookies being set.

Cookies

• Essential cookies. A session cookie keeps you signed in. This is required for account features to work and cannot be disabled while remaining signed in.
• Analytics cookies. We only set Google Analytics cookies after you accept them via the cookie banner. You can decline, or change your mind later by clearing your cookies for this site and choosing again when the banner reappears.
• Advertising cookies. We only set Google AdSense advertising/personalization cookies after you accept them via the cookie banner. If you decline, ads are still shown, but without personalization or advertising cookies.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• Provide sign-in, your greenhouse collection, and wishlist features.
• Send price-drop or wishlist alert emails, if you've opted into them.
• Understand aggregate site usage, only where you've consented to analytics cookies.
• Maintain the security and integrity of the service (e.g. detecting abusive login attempts).

Who we share data with

We use a small number of infrastructure and service providers to run the site: Google (for sign-in, advertising via AdSense, and, if you consent, analytics and ad personalization), Vercel (hosting and database infrastructure), and Resend (sending alert emails). These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms. We do not share your personal data with plant retailers, other users, or any other third party for marketing purposes.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@aroidatlas.co.uk.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to how we process it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@aroidatlas.co.uk.

Security

Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We use industry-standard hosting infrastructure and take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Children

Aroid Atlas is not directed at, and does not knowingly collect data from, children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “last updated” date above.
