About

Anthurium regale is one of the most coveted velvet Anthurium in cultivation, native to the premontane and montane forests of Peru. It produces several enormous cordate leaves of a deep, velvety dark green with a strikingly open, deep sinus and an elongated anterior lobe, all adorned with bold, pale primary venation. Plants grow with a short, thick crown either terrestrially or epiphytically on mossy branches and fallen logs in consistently moist conditions. Mature specimens are dramatic and commanding, making Anthurium regale a pinnacle of any serious aroid collection.

How prices are calculated: The AA Price uses verified eBay UK completed auction data — we take the trimmed mean (removing the top and bottom 20% of prices) to produce a fair-value guide. When recent auction data is unavailable, the AA Price falls back to the current UK retail average. All prices are in GBP and updated automatically.

The Regal Standard

Few aroids command a room the way Anthurium regale does. Named 'regale' — meaning royal — by Linden in recognition of its imposing stature, this Peruvian velvet giant produces leaves that can exceed a metre in length under ideal conditions. The pale venation runs in sweeping arcs across the deep green velvet, creating a pattern that looks almost architectural. It prefers slightly cooler temperatures than most Anthurium, reflecting its montane origins, and rewards careful humidity management with exceptional leaf size. A single mature leaf is enough to make the plant the centrepiece of any collection.
