About Philodendron melanochrysum

Philodendron melanochrysum, known as the Black Gold Philodendron, is a hemiepiphytic climber native to the humid montane rainforests of Colombia. It has long, velvety dark green leaves with contrasting pale yellow-green venation. It needs high humidity and vertical support to mimic its natural climbing habitat on forest tree trunks. Its bronze leaf underside and elongate, cordate leaf structure are distinguishing features, and it is one of the more recognizable aroids in the hobby.
