Philodendron martianum Engl. Morphology
About Philodendron martianum Engl.
Philodendron martianum is a self-heading aroid endemic to the humid lower montane forests of southern Ecuador's Zamora-Chinchipe Province. It is identified by its thick, sausage-like, swollen petioles and compact rosette habit. Adapted to life on steep slopes in shaded understory environments, it grows best in rocky, well-drained soils rich in leaf litter. Its leathery elliptic leaves and persistent cataphylls at the base are distinguishing features.
