About
Monstera dubia 'Aurea' is a golden-variegated form of the shingle plant, a species famous for pressing its small, overlapping juvenile leaves flat against a support in a neat, tiled pattern. The asymmetrical heart-shaped leaves carry irregular splashes of warm yellow across their dark green, silver-flecked surface, adding a second layer of pattern to an already distinctive shingling display. As with the species, leaves only reach their large, fenestrated mature form after years of unrestricted climbing, so most specimens in collections are still in their compact, wall-hugging juvenile stage.
