About Alocasia odora 'California'
California is a compact Alocasia selection with large, angular, heart-shaped leaves carrying rough, undulate, slightly sinuate margins and prominent sunken primary veins, with thicker upright stems and a more compact habit than typical Alocasia odora. It's a vigorous, humidity-loving grower well suited to bright rooms with high humidity.
Native range
Cultivated selection commonly attributed to Alocasia odora; some sources instead attribute it to Alocasia gageana.

Before you buy
- Widely available and inexpensive, so be cautious of collector-level pricing for the plain species
- Leaves should face upward on thick fleshy petioles rather than droop, consistent with the described growth habit
- For Variegata or California forms, confirm variegation pattern in photos rather than relying on the listing title alone
- Given the large mature size (1.2-2m), check the current pot size and leaf count match a fair price for the plant's actual maturity, not just the species name
