Begonia maculata 'Albo Variegata'
Polka Dot Begonia Variegata

Morphology
About
Begonia maculata 'Albo Variegata' is a cultivated horticultural selection derived from the popular cane begonia Begonia maculata Raddi, whose wild ancestry lies in the humid Atlantic Forest habitats of southeastern Brazil. The base species is itself celebrated for its asymmetrical angel-wing leaves marked with silver polka dots against deep green; the 'Albo Variegata' form adds a layer of irregular cream variegation that overlays the silver spotting for an effect at once more complex and more dramatic than the plain species. Deep red undersides remain a constant. Upright, segmented, bamboo-like stems carry the distinctively winged, asymmetric leaves in a clean vertical arrangement. Compared to the common maculata, the variegated form is considerably harder to find and commands a premium price justified by its genuinely enhanced ornamental character.

How prices are calculated: The AA Price uses verified eBay UK completed auction data — we take the trimmed mean (removing the top and bottom 20% of prices) to produce a fair-value guide. When recent auction data is unavailable, the AA Price falls back to the current UK retail average. All prices are in GBP and updated automatically.
