About Anthurium 'Canal Queen'

Anthurium 'Canal Queen' combines the near-black, elongated cordate leaf of Anthurium papillilaminum with the strongly rugose, corrugated surface of Anthurium rugulosum. The result is a dark, dramatically textured blade that carries more surface relief than papillilaminum alone while keeping its narrow, elegant taper toward the leaf tip. Subtle venation is mostly swallowed by the rugose texture rather than standing out in contrast, giving the leaf a sculptural, almost carved appearance under raking light.

One of a Matched Pair

Canal Queen and Cauca Queen are frequently sold alongside each other and are easy to confuse by name alone — both are Jay Vannini crosses onto Anthurium rugulosum, but with different velvet-leaf partners (papillilaminum here, forgetii 'Silver' for Cauca Queen). If a listing photo shows a narrower, near-black leaf, you're likely looking at this one; a rounder, more silver-veined leaf points toward its sibling instead.

Market Trend?Recent 4-week median vs. the prior 4 weeks. A rise only counts as 'Rising' when it's corroborated across the sample (not just one high sale) and confidence is decent — otherwise it's labelled a 'Spike'. Declines aren't treated as bad news: they're the expected trend as stock gets propagated.
Not enough history to calculate a trend
