August 2026 Price Guide

Most Expensive Epipremnum (Pothos) Varieties in 2026, Ranked

Pothos is one of the most common houseplants in the world, yet the genus's named variegated sports and larger-leaved species still command collector prices.

By Aroid Atlas · Data sourced from live UK sold-price tracking · Prices shown for a 7cm plant, updated August 2026

Epipremnum aureum ('pothos') is one of the most widely cultivated houseplants anywhere, but collector interest in the genus centres on something different: named variegated sports of aureum, and the larger-leaved species E. pinnatum and E. giganteum, whose leaves develop pinnate splits and fenestration with age when given something to climb.

We ranked every Epipremnum in our database by current price tier and live UK sold-price data. Each entry links to a full species profile with care notes and price history.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Epipremnum the same as pothos?

'Pothos' is the common trade name for Epipremnum aureum specifically; the genus also includes E. pinnatum and E. giganteum, which are grown and traded separately rather than under the pothos name.

Why are some pothos varieties so much more expensive than others?

Named variegated cultivars (Marble Queen, Snow Queen, Harlequin) are chimeric sports with less chlorophyll-bearing leaf tissue, which makes them slower-growing and harder to propagate at scale than the plain green species most people call 'pothos.'
