Tropic Marianne carries creamy-white leaves strongly variegated with rich green, with cream dominant over green rather than the more balanced split seen on Camille. Mature plants can reach a metre or more, with individual leaves broadening considerably under good light.

Before You Buy

Species-specific things to check when evaluating a listing

  • Confirm cream is dominant over green; a more balanced cream/green split suggests Camille or a similar cultivar mislabelled as Tropic Marianne
  • No live market price data is recorded; treat asking prices as seller-set rather than benchmarked
  • Check the plant is on track for a larger mature size (80-120cm); a permanently small specimen may be a different, smaller cultivar
  • As with all Dieffenbachia, sap is a calcium oxalate irritant if chewed; keep away from pets and small children, especially given this cultivar's eventual size and leaf volume

More Cream Than Camille

Tropic Marianne and Camille get compared often enough that the difference is worth stating plainly: Marianne carries cream as the dominant colour with green worked in around it, rather than Camille's more even split between a cream centre and a defined green margin. It also grows taller at maturity, potentially over a metre, which changes how much space it eventually needs compared to some of its more compact peerFamily relatives. Otherwise it's the same easy, tolerant plant as the rest of the genus.
