About Anthurium 'Red Velvet'

Anthurium 'Red Velvet' combines the scale and bold pale venation of Anthurium regale with the dense, near-black velvet and reddish petiole colouring of Anthurium dressleri. The result is a large-leaved hybrid with an open, deep sinus inherited from regale, carrying striking pale primary veins across a much darker, more heavily textured blade than regale alone ever produces. New growth often emerges with a distinct reddish-burgundy flush before settling into deep green, which is where the trade name comes from. A sibling clone from the same original cross, generally a shade darker, circulates under the name 'Voodoo Child'.

Regale's Scale, Dressleri's Darkness

Since 'Anthurium regale' and 'Anthurium red velvet' collide so easily with cake listings and unrelated merchandise on general marketplaces, I'd always search with the full cultivar name in quotes when hunting for a genuine specimen. Botanically it's a satisfying cross — regale rarely gets this dark, and dressleri rarely gets this big. If you come across 'Voodoo Child' being sold separately, know that it traces back to the same original cross; it's simply a different individual selection, generally a touch darker in tone.

Market Trend?Recent 4-week median vs. the prior 4 weeks. A rise only counts as 'Rising' when it's corroborated across the sample (not just one high sale) and confidence is decent — otherwise it's labelled a 'Spike'. Declines aren't treated as bad news: they're the expected trend as stock gets propagated.
