Anthurium radicans

Anthurium radicans is distinguished by its low-growing, creeping growth habit rather than an upright or climbing form. The defining feature of the species is its deeply bullate, heart-shaped leaves, with an intensely puckered, quilted texture. The petioles are often reddish or green and covered in tiny, warty tubercles. It is frequently used in hybridising with other species such as Anthurium luxurians, but the pure species is also grown in its own right for its textured foliage.

Native range

Endemic to the wet coastal rainforests of southeastern Brazil, growing as a creeping terrestrial or low climber on the forest floor.
