About Monstera xanthospatha Madison

Monstera xanthospatha is an uncommon climbing aroid native to the humid montane forests of Colombia. It is closely allied to the M. obliqua complex, characterized by slender, robust stems and delicate, fenestrated foliage. This species thrives in shaded, high-humidity understories, where it uses strong aerial roots to ascend trees in rich organic substrates. Its perforation pattern and yellowish-green new growth set it apart from its more common relatives.

Yellow-Spathed Colombian Rarity

Xanthospatha means 'yellow-spathed' — referencing the distinctive yellowish spathe of the flower. A Colombian Monstera at ultra rare status and upper price tier. The combination of limited Colombian range and genuine scarcity in cultivation makes this a meaningful acquisition for the serious Monstera collector. Colombia hosts wide Monstera diversity that has been inconsistently surveyed, particularly in the Pacific biogeographic region, and colombian endemic species like this one represent collecting gaps in most European collections.
