About Monstera gentryi Croat, M.Cedeño & O.Ortiz
Monstera gentryi is a robust climber native to the humid tropical forests of Panama. It typically grows on tree trunks, thriving in warm, wet, shaded conditions with high humidity and abundant organic matter. Its leaves are elongated-ovate, developing elegant fenestrations with maturity, and possess a distinctive perforated architecture.

In Memory of a Botanist
A Panamanian Monstera of genuine rarity in both wild habitat and cultivation, gentryi honours Alwyn Gentry — the botanist at Missouri Botanical Garden who revolutionised the study of neotropical plant diversity before his death in 1993 in a small plane crash in Ecuador while on a botanical survey. He was fifty-two. The discovery of plants and the risk of finding them are inseparable in that history. At the top price tier, with very rare status, this is a serious acquisition. Named plants carry something of those who discovered them. Worth growing with some awareness of that context.
