About Monstera cenepensis Croat, M.M.Mora & J.Rivera
Monstera cenepensis is a species native to the humid tropical forests of the western Amazonian slopes and lowland rainforests, found from Peru to Ecuador. This hemiepiphyte climbs trees using aerial roots, thriving in warm, moist conditions with filtered light. Its morphology is characterized by a slender, climbing habit with narrowly elliptic to oblong leaves featuring a restrained number of elongated perforations near the midrib. The stem is slender with prominent nodes and long aerial roots, contributing to its fine and elegant proportions.

From the Amazonian Lowlands
From the Amazonian lowlands of Peru and Ecuador, Monstera cenepensis is a relatively recently described species that has entered specialist cultivation without achieving wide recognition outside dedicated Monstera collectors. Produces fenestrated adult leaves with a silhouette distinct from the more commonly encountered species, in vigorous climbing stems adapted to forest conditions. Genuinely interesting to the Monstera enthusiast who has moved past deliciosa and is working through the genus with some methodical intent.
